I am Hamzeh. I love shisha. I hate soup. This is the story of my life (so far). People have many questions. The answer is: “Yes. I can do anything.”
Full of humour and beauty, Hamzeh’s extraordinary story transports you to his village in Syria, Za’atari refugee camp in Jordan, Gateshead and inside his mind: a place full of music, dancing, fantasies and marbles. Hamzeh invites you to be his childhood friends, to hold the moon to light the way into his dreams, brushing the dust from his clothes and taking to the stage.
Warnings: This show includes stories about being displaced due to war, refugee camps and ableism (disability discrimination).
Suitable for ages 12+ , if accompanied by an adult.
Penguin has integrated creative captions in Arabic and English.
