LAAF is proud to present Eating the Copper Apple by award-winning queer poet and writer lisa luxx. It takes audiences on a journey from West Yorkshire to the borders of Syria, in a one-woman show exploring identity, culture and displacement.

Shaped by luxx’s life, the play brings together politics, dreams, loss and fulfilment – asking the big questions about how we become who we are and exploring the intricacies of the mixed heritage experience. At once funny and philosophical, Eating the Copper Apple examines the tremendous impact of displacement on how we view our lives and identities.

Eating The Copper Apple was commissioned by Liverpool Arab Arts Festival and funded through the Al-Omar Family. The work has been supported by LAAF since its inception. It is a deeply collaborative work created by a team of Arab-heritage women artists.

A post-show artist discussion will be held after this performance.
