Spoken Word

Join us for this special version of ‘A Lovely Word’, Liverpool’s most eclectic spoken word night, as part of Liverpool Arab Arts Festival 2022.

Fartun Abdulle is a young emerging writer based in Liverpool with a Somali background. She is passionate about capturing and amplifying the experiences of the global majority across the world. She has written a Zine to highlight the voices of EAL and ESOL students in the north of Liverpool.  Her work has also previously been published in the Liverpool Biennial, ROOT-ed zine and the Liverpool year of writing.

There will be 8 open-mic slots available on the day, at a maximum of 5 minutes per slot. Poets identifying as Arab will be prioritised for the event. Read your own peoms or something that inspires you.

A Lovely Poetry Festival features some of the UK’s top talent, from Liverpool and around the country. At the Everyman from 1st to 9th July, it will celebrate writing, different voices and showcase the wonderful creative community of Liverpool. To see the full line-up please visit:
