Hilan Gully’s exhibition Voices explores and provokes conversations regarding representation in the climate movement.

The installation shown at OUTPUT Gallery includes a film, protest boards and an interactive poll. The film depicts 6 months of research Hilan has completed in Liverpool to explore the voices of local Middle Eastern/Arab communities regarding current climate change debates, and whether they feel they are represented in these discussions.

Whilst there is a vast amount of evidence highlighting the disproportionate impact of the climate crisis in the Arab region, Voices focuses on the lack of representation, the consequences of this, and how it impacts everyday efforts by local communities in addressing the climate crisis.

While the installation aims to provide the community with a platform in climate conversations, it will also initiate conversations with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Metro Mayor on how to improve the representation within the Liverpool City Region.
