Liverpool Arab Arts Festival 2021: Film Programme

Friday 16 July - Sunday 14 November, All Day

£5 / £7 for a single film, £8 / £10 for a double bill, £45 for a festival pass

Liverpool Arab Arts Festival celebrates Arab cinema, filmmakers and storytelling with an annual programme of screenings. This year, as we move online, discover stories from Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and more.

Meet a filmmaker in Jeddah trying to tell his nation’s story on film, a Saudi doctor turning to politics to get answers, a Lebanese family seeking to protect their dying patriarch, and a woman returning to Tunisia and re-encountering her identity.

We will be screening two films a month, and each double bill will allow you to explore a story and narrative exploring a different aspect of Arab culture. Each month will have a reading list and a chance to delve into the programme, immersing yourself in the story behind the film, the motivation of the filmmaker and the impact of the film itself.

We are making it flexible, so you can watch each film independently, book in a double bill or secure a festival pass to watch every screening from July to November. Tickets will be on sale and we will announce the full programme soon.

Please note, this year, due to restrictions, our films will only be available to screen online in the UK and Ireland, but we will point you towards places to screen the films outside of the UK so you can join in the festival experience.

This year we are using the platform Eventive as our film platform. It’s simple to use, all you’ll need to do is create an account and book your ticket for the film you want to see. We will let you know what dates the film is available and you can book it into your calendar. We will stay in touch and give you a nudge when the film is live.
