LAAF Unison Family Day

Sefton Park Palm House  |  FREE

It’s always a highlight of LAAF but this year’s Family Day festival finale was bigger, bolder and brighter than ever before at Sefton Park Palm House.

The 2017 line-up included Alsarah and the Nubatones, led by Sudanese-born, Brooklyn-based singer Alsarah, who has been dubbed ‘the new star of Nubian pop’. London Syrian Ensemble, who debuted at LAAF this year, is a collective of some of Syria’s finest musicians based in the UK, both newly arrived and long-term residents. Audiences heard the sounds of Syria through a diverse repertoire of classical and traditional music from the region.

Hgh-energy performances from a collective of Egypt’s best dance talent, which brought both traditional and modern street dance from Cairo to the Palm House. Reham Al-Hakimi and the Al Awadhel Band were back by popular demand.

Along with the programme of international music and dance acts there was an Arabian souk, cultural cuisine, and activities for all the family, including storytelling, henna and children’s craft and art activities.

It was a great way to close the festival!
