For the first time our friends at Savera UK are putting on a youth led conference.

The Savera UK young people have been working hard to develop and deliver the conference, which will be during UK Parliament Week (UK Parliament Week takes place every year in November to encourage young people and adults throughout the UK to take an active interest in politics). The conference will take place on Tuesday 13th November.

Savera UK is a registered charity that works with Black and Minority Ethnic communities, raising awareness among professionals, practitioners and the community about domestic abuse and harmful practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), honour based abuse and forced marriage. Savera UK has been influential, as well as making an outstanding contribution to protecting some of the most vulnerable and marginalised individuals in our local communities.

This is the second year, Savera UK is taking part in UK Parliament Week. This year and for the first time we will be holding a youth led conference where the young people are taking the lead in developing and delivering the conference and as part of this, they are also creating a film to specifically address harmful practices and certain issues that they think are important to them.

The conference will consist of live Q&A panel with, local councillors, community members, education and health representatives and will be chaired by the young people.

The conference will also include a very inspiring survivor's story. Along with Savera UK’s Patron, Nazir Afzal (Former Chief Crown Prosecutor for North West England) and the new Savera UK Ambassador, Maya Jama (Radio and TV Presenter) the Savera UK board and team would like to invite you to attend.
